<p>Our project will revolve around Beethoven’s String Quartet op. 131, one of the last string quartets that he completed: a piece that he was very proud of himself and one that has fascinated the music world ever since. Schubert asked for this piece to be played just a few days before his death, and reportedly remarked: ‘after this, what is left for us to write?’</p> <p>The piece consists of 7 movements, each with different characters that could represent different elements about life. In between the movements, we will read / project extracts from Beethoven’s letters as well as tell other stories and anecdotes about his life. The mood and character of the different movements will be reflected in the letters and stories that we choose.</p>
