The Germany-based Velvet Quartet was founded in 2020 by four young musicians from Turkey, Latvia, Germany, and Spain, and is currently based between Essen and Cologne.
Since its formation, the ensemble has been mentored by world-class chamber musicians, including Günter Pichler, Gerhard Schulz, Eberhard Feltz, Gregor Sigl, Heime Müller, Jonathan Brown, Kuss Quartet, Quatuor Ébène, Belcea Quartet, and Modigliani Quartet, among others.
The Velvet Quartet previously studied with Prof. Andreas Reiner in Folkwang University of the Arts and is currently under the mentorship of Prof. Oliver Wille. The ensemble’s violinists perform on instruments crafted by Stefan-Peter Greiner, generously on loan from the Folkwang University of the Arts Foundation.
