Founded in 2021 at the Zurich University of the Arts, the Turicum Quartet brings together four musicians from four different countries, united by a vivid and exploratory artistic vision. Their programs juxtapose masterworks of the past with contemporary music, including works by Toshio Hosokawa, Victor Alexandru Coltea, Hed Bahack and Amir Liberson. In 2023 they won Second Prize at the Karol Szymanowski International Music Competition, with a performance livestreamed worldwide by Medici TV and featured in The Strad and The Violin Channel. In 2025 they were selected for the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition. Highlights include debuts at Tonhalle Zurich, performances at NOSPR Katowice and the Mizmorim Festival with the Gringolts Quartet, and a residency at the Ticino Musica Festival. The quartet studies in Basel with Rainer Schmidt and Silvia Simionescu, is an ECMA Ensemble, a Villa Musica fellow, and a member of Le Dimore del Quartetto.
