MARS Quartet is a young ensemble formed by musicians from different parts of Europe who met at the end of 2024 at the Zurich University of the Arts. After only a few rehearsals, the quartet recognised the strength of its shared identity, united by technical affinity, energy, passion, and a common search for interpretative depth. Their artistic focus lies particularly on 20th- and 21st-century repertoire, with several projects devoted to the music of Dmitri Shostakovich.

In November 2025, MARS Quartet was awarded Second Prize as the only string ensemble to be honoured at the Swiss Orpheus Chamber Music Competition. As part of the prize, the group will be artists-in-residence at the Adelboden Music Festival in 2026 and will commission a new work by a young composer. The quartet has received coaching from Ilya Gringolts, Thomas Grossenbacher and Cobus Swanepoel, and from 2026 onwards will study with Lorenza Borrani.
