Founded in 2023 and based in Basel, the Jouska String Quartet is an ensemble in residence at the Proyecto Musical Villa de Lerma Chamber Music Festival and is currently pursuing a master’s degree under the mentorship of Anna Gebert, Rainer Schmidt and Anton Kernjak. The quartet performs regularly in Switzerland and Spain, appearing in concert series supported by the Swiss Foundation for Young Musicians and at festivals such as Música no Claustro in Tui and Concerts d’Aro in Santa Cristina d’Aro.
In November 2025, the ensemble won First Prize at the Mirabent Magrans International Chamber Music Competition. It also received the Café Bauhaus Award 2024 from the European Union Youth Orchestra for Dos Miradas, a project addressing global social and environmental issues. The quartet is a member of the Accademia Stauffer and the Le Dimore del Quartetto network, and has participated in the Walter Levin-Tage für Streichquartette in Basel.
