Named after the Latin word Ineo, “to enter, to begin, to blossom”, the INEO Quartet is one of Austria’s leading young string quartets. Founded in 2022 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under Prof. Johannes Meissl, the ensemble performs regularly in Austria and internationally, appearing at venues such as the Wiener Musikverein and in festivals across Europe.
The quartet is a member of Le Dimore del Quartetto, the European Chamber Music Academy and ProQuartet, and is currently a resident ensemble at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía with Günter Pichler. In 2025, INEO Quartet received a special prize at the Filippo Nicosia International Award.
Their debut CD, recorded in summer 2024 and presented at the Arnold Schönberg Center, includes String Quartet No. 3 by Richard Dünser, written for and dedicated to the ensemble.
