Marco Carino is a photographer specialising in classical musician portraiture, based in Turin, Italy. His background sets him apart: trained as a pianist at the Conservatorio of Genova, the Accademia di Musica of Pinerolo, and the Conservatorio of Torino, he brings a musician's perspective to every shoot. He understands audition pressure, the relationship with an instrument, the difference between a rehearsal portrait and a concert image, because he has lived all of it himself. This dual identity, musician and photographer, is the foundation of his work. Ensembles and soloists describe working with him as a peer-to-peer experience: someone who speaks their language without needing things explained. Over the years, Marco has photographed more than 50 classical musicians, including the principal violin of the Teatro Regio di Torino, orchestral musicians of the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, and several chamber ensembles within the Le Dimore del Quartetto network. Through his photography, he helps musicians communicate their artistic identity across a wide range of professional contexts, including concert promotion, recording releases, competitions, applications and cultural projects.
