Éditions Musicales Artchipel is an independent publishing house, founded by Jean-Paul Secher: grandson of an orchestra conductor and a woodworker, he describes himself as a musical craftsman. Born in 1962, he studied piano, singing, and orchestra conducting at the Conservatoire in Nantes and earned a musicology degree from the University of Tours. Drawn to the voice, he pursued a career as an accompanist, performing in numerous concerts and chamber music collaborations. Alongside his performing career, he taught piano, music theory, and conducted various choirs. His passion for music publishing led him to work as a proofreader, arranger, and music engraver. This became his primary focus, and he spent three years managing the score library at the Paris Opera, where he collaborated with leading musicians and developed digital engraving techniques. In 2005, he founded Éditions Musicales Artchipel with the mission of connecting composers, performers and audiences, valuing both musical content and the craftsmanship of printed scores.
