Transnational Project Meeting in Paris

News | June 23, 2025

On June 25th, 2025, the final event of the European project MERITA – where chamber Music, cultural hERItage and TAlent meet – will take place in Paris, organized by ProQuartet in collaboration with Le Dimore del Quartetto. Held at Europa Experience, a multimedia exhibition center dedicated to the European Union, this event marks the conclusion of a three-year journey that has redefined the role of chamber music within Europe’s cultural landscape.

Over the past three years, MERITA has created an innovative ecosystem where chamber music and cultural heritage converge, involving 17 partners from 12 European countries, 38 string quartets, 152 musicians, over 100 historic houses, and numerous cultural institutions across the continent. Through concerts, artistic residencies, and digital tools, the platform has enhanced the visibility, mobility, and professional sustainability of emerging ensembles, bringing music beyond the walls of traditional concert halls.

Taking place in the lively atmosphere of Paris’ Fête de la Musique – the citywide celebration held every year on June 21st – the event will reflect MERITA’s mission of making classical music more accessible and engaging. The program will feature the Wassily Quartet’s “Concert à la carte,” at INJA – National Institute for Blind Children: an interactive performance format that invites the audience to shape the concert in real time.

During the event, the next chapter of the project will also be unveiled: MERITAcubed, running from 2025 to 2029. With the support of 19 partner organizations from 16 countries, it will support 56 ensembles – including string quartets and piano trios – offering new opportunities for artistic development, visibility, and local engagement.
