Qualco Foundation Building
Greece
The historic Qualco Foundation Building, located in the Ioannis Pesmazoglou Building (Athens), is a landmark of architectural and historical significance. Designed by the architect Ernst Ziller between 1893 and 1900, the four-storey mansion reflects an eclectic style distinguished by elegant marble balconies, and decorative cornices. Conceived by the economist, banker, and entrepreneur Ioannis Pesmazoglou, the building was envisioned as Athens’ first large-scale luxury apartment residence, offering short-term accommodation for affluent international visitors. Located beside the Greek Parliament and on the prestigious Herodou Attikou Street, the building has long been associated with the political and economic heart of Athens. Today, the preserved property houses the Austrian Embassy and the Qualco Foundation, continuing its legacy as a symbol of prestige, heritage, and cultural value.
