Filarmoniki Foundation Conservatory of Patras

The Filarmoniki Foundation Conservatory of Patras was founded in 1892. It has been awarded the Silver Prize of the Academy of Athens for its musical and educational work. The headquarters of the Filarmoniki Foundation Conservatory of Patras is located in the city center (Riga Ferraiou 7) in a neoclassical building, featuring a magnificent concert hall, while the classrooms are located in the adjacent five-story building. At the Filarmoniki Foundation Conservatory of Patras and at the schools of Piano, Wind, Percussion, Strings, Theory and Singing, distinguished Greek and foreign musicians taught, thousands of young people acquired musical education and thus a solid and continuous musical tradition was created in Patras.
A brilliant band was organized and maintained by the Filarmoniki Foundation Conservatory of Patras, for 30 whole years with visibility in whole Greece. Its participation in the events of the 1st Olympic Games was particularly awarded, later created the first Patras Symphony Orchestra, with conductor Joseph Bustidui. Acclaimed musicians taught in the classes of “Conservatory of Patras”. The Filarmoniki Foundation Conservatory of Patras continues the tradition of organizing concerts, seminars and lectures. Also, in various events, the Filarmoniki Foundation Conservatory of Patras has collaborated with the Union of Greek Composers, the Great Music Library of Greece “Lilian Voudouri”, the Music Department of the University of Athens, the University of Patras, and other institutions of the city.
Since 1996, the position of Artistic Director of “Conservatory of Patras” has been held by Vasiliki Filippeou, Professor of Higher Theory – Composer, who created two concert institutions, the “PODIUM Young Artists” and the “Musical May”.
