MERITAcubed — WHERE WE GROW FROM HERE

MERITA – where chamber Music, cultural hERItage and TAlent meet, is a European platform connecting emerging ensembles, cultural heritage sites, and music professionals across Europe. Its mission is to enhance the visibility and mobility of young European talent while promoting cultural heritage and encouraging sustainable artistic Practices.

Following the success of its first three years (2022–2025), MERITA has received a second round of co-funding from the European Commission and now launches its new cycle: MERITAcubed, running from 2025 to 2029.

MERITA functions as both a digital and physical space for training, exchange, and collaboration. It fosters innovation in the chamber music sector, supports the professional growth of young artists, and brings new cultural life to heritage sites through meaningful artistic Content.

A new way to experience

MERITAcubed builds upon and expands the original MERITA vision: innovating the chamber music sector by linking outstanding young European ensembles with cultural heritage sites, fostering professional growth, creative exchange, and meaningful engagement with audiences. The platform in this next phase will also include new heritage venues: 10 historical gardens selected by the Asociación Red Europea de Jardines Históricos and 10 cultural sites chosen by Europa Nostra will host a total of 20 concerts, continuing MERITA’s mission to celebrate and revitalise Europe’s cultural heritage through music.

A new way to perform

In this new phase, 12 ensembles selected from the 38 participants of the first cycle will have the opportunity to develop a new artistic project in a more independent and self-directed way. In addition, 44 new ensembles (22 string quartets and 22 piano trios) will embark on an exciting journey that includes the design of original outreach and artistic projects through online training and residencies, as well as opportunities to connect with international cultural institutions and perform across Europe.

SUSTAINABILITY

In MERITAcubed, sustainability becomes a deeper commitment and a practical tool for the future of chamber music. Building on the foundations of MERITA, this new phase strengthens our ecological responsibility with an enhanced CO₂ calculator designed specifically for chamber music activities, helping quartets and venues track, understand, and reduce their environmental footprint.

MERITAcubed embraces sustainability in its most holistic sense: ecological, artistic, economic, and cultural. Through shared practices, environmental awareness, and new resource-efficient models, we work toward a circular cultural ecosystem, one in which music, heritage, and talent circulate responsibly across borders and generations.

MERITAcubed continues the project’s dedication to creating a sector that is not only artistically vibrant, but environmentally conscious and future-ready.
